Real Wedding: Jessica and Paul’s Classic Elegance at Banff’s Rimrock Resort

Navy, cream and gold in the Wildrose Ballroom — and a dusting of September snow to finish the night.

She's from the East, he's from the West, and Calgary is where they landed together. When it came time to choose where to marry, Jessica and Paul never really debated it — they wanted to hand their friends and family the Canadian Rockies for a weekend, so they made it a mini destination wedding in Banff National Park.

Jessica knew the look she wanted from the first meeting: classic elegance. Tall candelabra centrepieces mixed with low arrangements, a palette of deep navy with cream and gold. Those neutrals sat beautifully in the Wildrose Ballroom at The Rimrock Resort.

Early September showed its hand with scattered showers through the afternoon — and then, in the evening, a soft dusting of snow. Pure mountain magic.

The morning was spent getting ready at the Rimrock, hair and make-up in the rooms. The bride wore a lace-covered sheath by Maggie Sottero with gold sandals, and carried a cascading bouquet from our in-house floral studio. Her bridesmaids carried baby's breath. The ceremony was a Roman Catholic mass at St. Mary's Parish, the century-old stone church in Banff, with the couple's own priest travelling from Calgary to marry them.

From the couple:

"Paul and I met and currently reside in Calgary, but with Paul being from British Columbia and myself being from Ontario, it was hard to decide where to gather both sides of the family and friends. What better place than the heart of the Canadian Rockies in beautiful Banff National Park! Lush florals filled the candelabra centrepieces, which really made the room stand out. Along with the typical mountain weather — afternoon rain followed by evening snow — our wedding was everything we imagined and dreamed of."
