Jennifer and Stuart met amidst the hustle and bustle of New York City, where they both live. Both have busy careers in the financial industry, but that didn’t stop them from meeting and falling in love. Last year on a visit to Jenn’s hometown of Edmonton, the couple detoured on a side trip to the mountain town of Banff, Alberta. It captured their hearts, and became their obvious choice for a wedding destination when they finally decided to get engaged.
Family and guests travelled across the country to celebrate with the two of them. The Rimrock Resort was chosen as their wedding venue. Jenn and Stuart wanted to create an amazing experience for their guests, so as guests came into town, there was a Welcome Reception held for everyone on the Friday evening at The Park Distillery Restaurant & Bar, giving people a chance to get to meet and get to know one another.
Saturday was the big day. Each only had one attendant, so it was a pretty low-key morning as everyone started to get ready. Although Jenn and Stuart preferred to have an outdoor ceremony with the majestic Canadian Rockies in the background, Mother Nature had her own plans and the ceremony had to be moved inside. (Wedding Planning Tip: Always make sure to have a back-up plan if you are having an outdoor ceremony.) Guests gathered inside for the ceremony, which included personal vows from the couple. It was followed immediately by Cocktail Hour in the Art Deco-inspired foyer.
Guests reassembled in the Wildrose Ballroom for the main part of the reception. Silvery grey vintage linens covered each table with silver Chiavari chairs for guests to sit on. Floral centerpieces alternated between tall and low arrangements, featuring white hydrangeas, white tulips, greenery, and blush and cream roses. Simple and clean table numbers and place cards also adorned each table, along with silver beaded glass chargers and menu cards. After a delicious dinner and speeches, the room started rocking as Calgary’s Side One Band entertained and brought the roof down.
The following morning a good-bye brunch was held, allowing everyone the opportunity to get together one last time and say good-bye before heading back to the airport and their various homes across the continent. An incredible weekend for a wonderful couple beginning the next chapter of their lives together!
