Azuridge Estate Hotel is an incredible boutique hotel property nestled in the Foothills of the Canadian Rockies, just south of Calgary, Alberta. Pam and Ryan saw it years ago, and came back to visit on many occasions, getting to know the staff and sharing this hidden gem with their respective families. Once they started planning their wedding, this was an obvious choice for the two of them. It’s location allowed them to celebrate the wonders of nature and the outdoors. They chose September for their wedding to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors with the changing leaves.
These two were a match made in heaven! it all began 10 years ago. They met at a “Name That Tune” pub night with their respective friends and instantly connected over their mutual love of travel and the outdoors. It fostered a bond between the two that has only grown stronger over the years. It was on one of their trips that he proposed to Pam. They were visiting Scotland and he suggested they take a walk. He led her to the gate of Edinburgh Castle, completely deserted, but beautifully lit up at night. He got down on one knee, took her hands in his, and asked her to do the honour of spending her life with him. (Pure romance!!!) Of course, she said yes!!!
For Pam and Ryan, a clear theme didn’t come to them right away. They focused their decisions on items that were important to both him and her. He would wear a kilt to celebrate his Scottish heritage (and their memorable trip there). She wanted to bring in elements of her Chinese background, including surprising the weddings guests with traditional lion dancers. A multicultural experience that blended their two family histories into one celebration! While they decided on a classic color palette for the ceremony and reception of soft blush tones and neutrals, the bridesmaids had a more modern look with stylish black cocktail dresses. The more they planned, the more they realized that their wedding style was the two of them, and making the decisions that best reflected who they were as a couple and their personal hobbies and interests. Their style became the two of them!
